Our Story · Our Purpose

We Are Jofad

A community built on warmth, wonder and the belief that every single child deserves to be truly known.

Who We Are

More Than a School —
A Family

Jofad Montessori School is a warm, home-school environment in Thome, Nairobi, offering Daycare, Kindergarten and Elementary education for children aged 0–12. We offer authentic Montessori education in a warm, home-school environment — a place where every child is known, celebrated, and given the freedom to grow at their own pace.

Founded and led by Director Janet Gichobi, Jofad has grown into one of Nairobi's most trusted Montessori environments — known for our genuine care, deeply inclusive community, and the visible confidence we see in every child who walks through our gates.

We are not a factory of academic results. We are a place where children are seen, understood, and gently guided to become the best versions of themselves.

Our Mission

"To enable our students to discover and chart their path early in life into becoming independent individuals and solution-oriented members of society."

— Janet Gichobi, Director

Independence

Children learn to think, decide and act for themselves through hands-on, self-directed experiences each day.

Early Discovery

We help every child find their unique gifts early, giving them a confident head start into life and learning.

Community

A school where families belong — where parents are partners and children feel genuinely safe and loved.

The First Pillar · Our Approach

The Montessori Way

The Montessori Method is built on a simple truth: children learn best when they are free to explore, choose and work at their own pace. Our classrooms are prepared environments — beautiful, ordered, and filled with authentic Montessori materials that invite discovery.

Mixed-age groupings allow younger children to learn by observation and older children to solidify knowledge by teaching. Teachers act as guides — observing carefully, presenting lessons when the child is ready, and then stepping back to let the child work independently.

We prepare children not just for the next level of school — but for life. Learning here is real, purposeful, and deeply connected to the world around them.

The Second Pillar

Real Skills.
Real Experts.

At Jofad, we believe children learn most deeply when they learn from people who actually live and breathe their craft. That is why professionals from across every field — chefs, doctors, engineers, artists, farmers, and more — come into our classrooms to work directly with our students.

This is our Apprenticeship Model: a structured programme where real-world expertise meets Montessori hands-on learning. A child doesn't just read about cooking — they bake bread with a professional chef. They don't just learn about health — they ask questions of a real nurse. From a young age, Jofad children develop confidence, curiosity, and a broad understanding of the world they are growing into.

"When a child learns to bake bread from a real chef, they are not just learning a skill — they are discovering that the world is open to them."

The Third Pillar · Inclusive Education

Every Child Belongs.
Every Child Thrives.

"We believe all children thrive in environments that feel normal, natural, and deeply human."

— Janet Gichobi, Founder & Director

"Every Child Belongs. Every Child Thrives."

We serve neurodivergent students across all age groups — including those with ADHD, ASD and dyslexia — through a flexible, sensory-informed Montessori model.

Our setting is calm and nature-integrated, offering space for sensory regulation, creativity and expression. Learning is paced and personalised. We collaborate with therapists for occupational and speech sessions, and we work closely with parents to create a supportive and empowered journey for every child.
